Playlist’s Song Pairing:

Jorge Ben Jor, considered the father of Brazilian soul, rose to fame with his album Samba Esquema Novo (1963). His music has a very particular style, which fuses samba, funk and rock; his lyrics blend humor and satire and is sometimes reminiscent of the themes of Rio de Janeiro's samba schools. This track is the first appearance of recurring character Charles, a celebrated fictional character in a favela underworld.

We love this track with the Corgo as the vibrant samba beat runs at the same frequency as this bright, juicy wine!

Mateus Nicolau de Almeida’s

Trans Douro Express Baixo Corgo

Region: Douro, Portugal

Vintage:

Grapes: Touriga Franca, Touriga Nacional

Color: Red

Mateus and Teresa, a husband-and-wife duo, are fifth-generation winemakers from the Nicolau de Almeida family in the Douro region. They run Shad's Winery, named after the fish that once traveled through the Douro River from the Atlantic Ocean, and their winemaking philosophy centers around organic and biodynamic farming techniques, resulting in a diverse range of wines that provide a unique perspective on the art of winemaking.

This is luscious red wine from the cooler Baixo Corgo region of the Douro valley. Bursting with juicy fruit, this wine is characterized by bright acidity and structured tannins that linger on the finish. This tasty treat is an excellent choice with a charcuterie plate or light dinner.
