Playlist’s Song Pairing:

Abra's "Pull Up" is a standout track from her Princess EP. With twinkling synths, 808s, and R&B-style vocals, the song tells the story of a woman in love with a man who turns out to be a liar and a cheater. What sets Abra apart is her meticulous attention to detail, with every drum beat and vocal layer planned out to create a cohesive sound. Despite the lack of complexity in the production, the resulting gloominess fills the empty space appropriately, giving the song a haunting quality that sticks with the listener.

This lo-fi track stands in stark contrast to the vibrant and juicy Las Jaras, proving the old adage that opposites attract. Despite the differences in style, both hold their own next to each other and make for a unique experience.

Las Jaras is a labor of friendship between a long-time California winemaker Joel Burt and comedian Eric Wareheim (of Master of None or Tim & Eric fame). They grow organically and use minimal intervention production intended to highlight the natural expression of the fruit. And as Eric and Joel say, “If you’re not used to drinking wines made this way, the experience can be a revelation.”

These two call the Glou Glou “the perfect wine for circle foods” - think pizza, another of Eric’s true loves. This spectacular wine is one that we here at Playlist have on regular rotation, vintage after vintage. Crank up the heat on your pizza oven, crack a bottle of Glou Glou and get ready to have a party in your mouth.
